After graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps whee he served a tour of duty in Vietnam. Suffering injury during war. Lonnie received an honorable discharge in 1969.
His masonic affiliaions include: The Most Worshipful Grand Master of Prince Hall Grand Lodge of South Carolina. He is a 33rd dgree Sovereign Inspector General and Honorary Past Potentate of Cairo Temkple No. 125 (Shriner) with The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Sourh Carolina, Past Right Worshipful Deputy Grand Master for the State of South Carolina, Past Right Worshipful Junior Grand Junior Grand Warden, Past Worshipful Assistant Grand Ledcturer, Past Worshipful Master of Barnwell Lodge #180, Past Commander-In-Chief, Prince Hall Consistory #282, Member of the Commander of the Rite. Hosey is a member of St. Thomas Grove Missionary Baptiwt Church in Barnwell, South Carolina. He serves in various capacities: Board of Deacons, Chairman of Trustees, Member of Usher Board, Sunday School Teacher of the Adult Sunday School Class. In addition to his church affilation, Hosey is active and holds offic in various other civic and service organizations.........NAACP, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc......
Hosey was elected to the House of Representatives Seat #91 (Allendale/Barnwell Counties) on June 1, 1999.
Hosey is married to the former Miss Doris Creech. He and Doris had one son, the latre Donnie D. Hosey.
